Land Donated Because of Rare Plant Species

MAY 24, 2005 -- They're not your usual spring plants, but they're in bloom and they're now the property of the city.

Venus Fly Traps are growing on a 40-acre plot behind Alderman Elementary School.

Hugh MacRae Park donated that land to the Wilmington Parks and Recreation Department.

The land is protected because of the rare plants.
