RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State has accepted a bid to the 2016 Camping World Independence Bowl, which will be played in Shreveport, La., on December 26. Kickoff at Independence Stadium is scheduled for 5 p.m. (EST) and the game will be televised by ESPN.

The Wolfpack will face SEC opponent Vanderbilt in the contest.  The Commodores boast a 6-6 record with a 3-5 mark in conference play.

The invitation marks the third consecutive bowl appearance for the Wolfpack, and the fifth in head coach Dave Doeren's six-year stint as a head coach. NC State has posted a 6-6 record in 2016, facing eight teams that have earned bowl bids.

"We are thankful for the opportunity to play in the Independence Bowl," said Doeren, who has now coached bowl eligible teams 12 of the 15 years he's been a full-time D1 coach.  "I'm proud of our team for achieving this goal.  We are looking forward to playing a great opponent from the SEC conference."

The Independence Bowl will be the Pack's 29th postseason appearance (15-13-1) and its 12th bowl game since 2000.
