WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

UPDATE: According to Sevier County Sheriff's Department, the body Jeannie Gardner's daughter, Constance, has been discovered, but her two daughters remain missing. The family's pastor held a press conference today to provide an update on the search.

ORIGINAL STORY: Jeannie Gardner hasn't seen or spoken to her daughter, Constance, in more than a year, and now, she's afraid she will never get to again.

The wildfires sweeping eastern Tennessee engulfed Constance's family's Gatlinburg home. Gardner said her son-in-law and grandson were able to escape, but Constance and her two daughters, Lily and Chloe, haven't been heard from since a phone call Monday night.

"My daughter had called him on the phone and said the fire was across the street and he told her to call 911," Gardner said. "By the time he got back, the house was in flames, and Constance, Chloe and Lilly were missing."

Gardner said her son-in-law has been searching tirelessly since then, and she's been doing what she can from Wilmington, calling hospitals and shelters. So far, no luck. Law enforcement is set to sweep the home Wednesday.

"I just pray they aren't in there," Gardner wept. "I just can't wrap that around my head."

The mother said her daughter had a strong maternal instinct and would protect her children with her life. She said she is in constant prayer that her family will be found alive.
