WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Wilmington police located a revolver hidden inside a toilet after responding to reports of a man walking around the Houston Moore complex shooting a gun Tuesday evening.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers arrived to the housing complex at around 6:20 p.m. While searching, officers heard one shot fired from the southeast side of the complex.

Witnesses told officers they saw the suspect run inside 1628 South 15th Street, at which point officers surrounded the residence.

After several attempts over a PA system, the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Bryan Davis, of Wilmington, came out peacefully and was detained.

Authorities contacted the owner of the home, who said she did not know Davis, and allowed officers to search the building.

During the search, police noticed the bathroom floor was wet, and the lid on the toilet had been removed. They found the revolver inside the toilet wrapped in a plastic bag.

Davis was charged with going armed to the terror of people, resisting arrest, second-degree trespassing, discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was placed in the New Hanover County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
