Man Caught After Robbing Convenience Store

MAY 23, 2005 -- A man with a hammer held up a Carolina Beach convenience store early Monday morning.

Police say David Smith robbed the Scotchman, threatening employees with a hammer. He ran away from the scene with $110 in cash.

An officer saw Smith running, arrested him, and recovered the stolen money.

Smith is being held at the New Hanover County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
