WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW sophomore Maddy Kline's 16 kills led three Seahawks in double figures as UNCW closed out its season with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-17, 29-27) win over conference-leading College of Charleston on Sunday at Hanover Hall.

The Seahawks ended their season with an overall record of 17-11 and 7-9 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Cougars, meanwhile, enter the conference tournament later this week with a record of 17-11 and 10-6. The win gave UNCW a sweep of Charleston this season.

Kline was joined in double-digits by seniors Nicole Lott and Kristen Powell with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Lott and Kline capped double-double outings with 22 and 11 digs, respectively.

CofC also landed three players in double-digit kills with Devon Rachel leading the way with 14. Krissy Mummey added 11 and Maddie Hills chipped in 10.

In the fourth set, CofC held a 27-26 lead and was serving to close out the set and extend the match. But the Cougars were called for being out of rotation and the Seahawks, with the score now tied, closed out the set with a kill from Lott and a service ace by sophomore Sydney Alvis for the win.

How it happened: The Seahawks rebounded from a slow start in the first set to hit .261 in the second set and .300 in the third set to take a 2-1 lead in sets. Anna Moss led UNCW at the net with six blocks as UNCW limited CofC to a .177 hitting average.

Notes: UNCW honored four seniors Bella Borgiotti, Alyssa Desjardins, Nicole Lott and Kristen Powell prior to the match … The win extended UNCW's brief winning streak in the series to three … There were 13 ties and six lead changes in the final set … Kline totaled 10 kills and a .308 hitting average over the final two sets … Desjardins finished with 26 assists and Borgiotti added 19.
