WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Veterans got a chance to meet with potential employers at a job fair.
New Hanover and Pender County Career Centers and Lower Cape Fear Human Resource Association hosted a job fair on Friday, November 18, from 9 a.m. to noon inside the CFCC Schwartz Center on 411 North Front Street in Wilmington.
More than 50 different employers from across the state accepted resumes and handed out professional tips.
Jason Grossman, a veteran who benefited from some of these tips, served a tour in Afghanistan then moved to Wilmington with his wife when he returned.
His wife has a job but he is still hunting for new employment.
It's events like these that make him confident there are people looking out for veterans.
"There are so many of us that come home and don't have a job to come home to our had issues with our employers and when we return we have to replace that employment somehow," said Grossman. "Career fairs like this are an undeniable good way of locating jobs for us."
Grossman is a student at CFCC pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and said there were several companies in attendance that seemed like a good fit for his career goals.
The job fair was also open to those who are not veterans and was free to everyone who attended.
