Stay on trend on a budget. Jessica De Vault, stylist for Wilma Magazine, said one way to do that is by shopping at thrift stores.
Thursday, we met her at Vintage Values in Monkey Junction to look at how you look fab on a dime.
“When you come here you are getting quality clothes, even though it is thrift, not to mention the fact when you buy things here it is benefiting victims of domestic violence as well,” De Vault said. Vintage Values supports Domestic Violence Shelter and Services in Wilmington.
When thrift store shopping, De Vault advises that you keep an open mind. Look for items that appear to be new or gently worn.
“I'm looking for quality items,” she said. “Items that appear to not have been worn.”
She said the shops are great spots to find blazers, especially as we approach cooler temperatures here in Wilmington.
There were some steals we found at Vintage Values.
Trina Turk gold flats, regularly priced at around $200, were under $10 there.
We also found a Banana Republic blazer for just $4 and jcrew trousers for $2.99.
In the end, De Vault coordinated an outfit for Ashlea for around $10.
The outfit did not include this tennis ball sweater:
