The 80th Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas now has a scheduling conflict.
The conflict was caused when the NCHSAA pushed back state championship dates to Dec. 17 to allow teams to make up games missed because of Hurricane Matthew. Now both the Shire Bowl and the state championships are schedule for the same day.
Shrine Bowl officials have decided not to change the date of the game.
“The Shrine Bowl has a plan in place to address the replacement of players and our coaches if need be,” said game chairman Jamie Smith.
The 80th Shrine Bowl is set for Dec. 17 at Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, SC.
