WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

UNCW Sustainability has teamed up with Feast Down East and community partners to take part in Food Day, a nationwide celebration of movement toward more healthy, affordable and sustainable food.

The event aims to bring us closer to a food system that is produced with care for the environment, animals and the men and women who grow, harvest and serve it.

As part of the day, there will be a food fair involving community organizations with food-related missions and services, in addition to a visit from Plate of the Union.

The Plate of the Union food truck will bring organizers who will share information about how to advocate for policy change.

The event will also include a food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

Food Day will take place Oct. 24, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of UNCW's Wagoner Hall.
