WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -
Several agencies will come together for the Potluck for Peace & Panel Discussion as part of the YWCA's annual Week Without Violence campaign.
Guests are encouraged to bring a hearty dish to share and prepare to engage in a mature discussion on how to recognize abuse, how to prevent it, and what our local government and community can do to make lasting changes.
“Violence against women and girls is a grave violation of human rights. It has a great impact on the immediate and long-term physical and mental health of those affected. Sexual violence has a profound impact on women and girls”, says Community Outreach Manager, Kelly Williams.
The potluck will take place Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. at the YWCA Bridge Center. Local agencies like Planned Parenthood, DSS, Coastal Horizons and WPD will have informational tables set up for a pre-show expo.
The deadline for reservations was Oct. 17.
