BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) -

The Brunswick County Board of Commissioners approved two important topics on their agenda at Monday night's meeting.

Those topics included GPS systems to be installed in county-owned vehicles and funding for repairs to the St. James Main Pump Station.

The board will adopt revisions to the County Personnel Manual Policy to include the use of Global Positioning Systems in county owned-vehicles which will help the county reduce vehicle accidents by identifying improper driving habits to improve safety for employees and citizens.

The county may use or disclose any information generated by the GPS for any purpose.

The board approved repairs of $150,000 at the St. James Main Pump Station and appropriate funding. Repairs need to be done on the pump station because of odor control issues as well as hydrogen sulfide corrosion at the header pipe that connects the five force mains that transmit flow from the St. James Collection System to the St. James Main Pump Station.
