WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A Wilmington man is accused of sexually assaulting a small dog outside his home Friday night.

According to Cathryn Lindsay with the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded to the 100 block of Bagley Avenue after receiving a report of possible animal cruelty.

Cops spoke with a neighbor who claimed that the night before, they saw Sisto Fea, 24, exit a home with a small dog, unzip his pants and perform a sexual act on the dog.

The neighbor said Fea dropped the dog after it reacted and then kicked the dog as it ran away.

A short time later, the neighbor said Fea reemerged from the home and proceeded to try and sexually assault another dog. Lindsay said it's unclear if it was the same dog from the previous incident.

The neighbor said they flashed their headlights at Fea startling him. He then went back inside the home.

Lindsay said officers took out warrants on Fea and arrested him Saturday. Officers also took the dog into custody. He's charged with crimes against nature, felony animal cruelty and misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Fea was booked into the New Hanover County Jail under a $50,000 bond.

During Fea's first court appearance Monday, it was revealed that the dog was an 11-month-old collie named Lola that Fea rescued in February.

A judge reduced Fea's bond to $25,000 and placed him on electronic house arrest. Fea was also ordered to have no contact with animals. Lola was released into foster care.

After the dog was taken into custody, Wilmington police went to the hospital and obtained a sexual assault kit and swabbed the dog. A black light fluorescent system was also used and indicated the presence of human bodily fluid on the dog.
