ELON, North Carolina - UNCW's Nicole Lott set a rally-scoring era for the Seahawks with 29 kills as UNCW edged host Elon, 3-2 (20-25, 25-19, 26-24, 24-26, 15-13), in Colonial Athletic Association volleyball action at the Koury Athletic Center on Saturday.

The win raised UNCW's record to 14-6 overall and 4-4 in the league while the Phoenix, which suffered its fourth consecutive outing and the third that went to five sets, fell to 15-8 and 2-5.

"Elon is a much improved team with a lot of offensive weapons and tough serving which kept us out of system," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. Nicole (Lott) was outstanding all night and came up big with kills when it mattered. I'm so proud of how hard we worked and fought for a 2-0 mark this weekend."

Lott, who had tied the previous mark of 23 last season, posted eight and seven of her kills in the second and fourth sets, respectively. Her eight kills in the second set sparked the Seahawks to a .405 hitting average and a 25-19 win to draw the match even heading into the intermission.

Joining Lott in double-digits was Kristen Powell, who added 10 kills and four blocks on the night. Maddie Kline and Anna Moss shipped in seven kills apiece.
Defensively it was a stalemate at the net as both teams chalked up 10 blocks. UNCW's Sydney Alvis held match-high honors with 24 digs.

Elon placed three in double-figure kills with Sydney Busa leading the way with 19 kills. Kam Terry added 17 and finished with a team-best .295 hitting average. Ebony Scott rounded out the trio with 10 kills.

Setter Sydel Curry finished with a match-high 53 assists and added 16 dogs for a double-double.

How it happened: Elon had no answer for Lott in the fifth set as the senior collected four kills in seven swings and added a block assist.
