NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - After 30 years of service to New Hanover County, County Clerk to the Board Teresa Elmore will retire on December 1.
Elmore spent more than 20 years as deputy clerk and was appointed to the role of clerk to the board in 2014.
The current deputy clerk, Kym Crowell, was appointed by the Board of Commissioners to take Elmore's place.
"We are grateful to Teresa for her outstanding 30 years of service to the citizens and officials in New Hanover County," said Beth Dawson, chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. "Teresa's leadership has been a great example for Kym as she steps into the new role, and we are delighted to promote Kym."
Crowell graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 1993 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. She the received her North Carolina Certified County Clerk designation from the UNC School of Government's Clerks' Certification Institute in January 2016. Crowell joined NHC in December of 1994 and has served as deputy clerk since January 2008.
