WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Prior to taking the Trask Coliseum court for their second practice of the season, Coach Adell Harris and the 2016-17 UNCW women's basketball team met with members of the local media on Monday afternoon.

The Seahawks, who held their first official practice on Sunday afternoon, conducted more than 20 interviews with print, electronic and digital media outlets. In addition, a "Media Day Live" show was produced live via UNCW Athletics' official Facebook page.

Harris, who enters her fifth year at the helm, enters the season with a group of six returning letter winners along with junior guard Jenny DeGraaf and junior forward Janeá Williams, who sat out last year after transferring from Penn State and North Florida, respectively.

Senior guard Jasmine Steele returns as the top scorer from last year after averaging 9.4 points per game while starting 19-of-30 contests.

UNCW also welcomes a group of seven newcomers to the roster, including three junior college transfers.

The Seahawks will have 30 games on their regular season schedule, including 15 home contests inside Trask Coliseum. The season opener will take place on Friday, Nov. 11, when UNCW hosts Norfolk State at 4:30 p.m.
