CFCC to host humanities town hall meeting

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Cape Fear Community College will host a town hall meeting to discuss "Why the Humanities are Important for a Democracy" on Thursday, Sept. 29.

The event, which CFCC is co-sponsoring with University of North Carolina's Program in the Humanities and Human Values and the National Humanities Center, will be held at the Studio Theater inside the Wilson Center. The meeting starts at 7 p.m., is open to public and is free.

Panelists will include Brandon Guthrie, chair of CFCC’s Humanities and Fine Arts department; Lloyd Kramer, professor of History and Faculty Director at UNC-Chapel Hill; Lynn Mollenauer, department chair and associate professor of History at UNCW; and Robert Newman, President and Director of the National Humanities Center.
