911 call describes suspect involved in 13th Street shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Officials responded to reports of a shooting that killed one man Tuesday afternoon in Wilmington. 

Someone called 911 around 5:40 p.m. in reference to a shooting in the 100 block of North 13th Street between Princess Street and Chestnut Street.

The man speaking with dispatch advised them that he had heard one gun shot and saw the suspect jump on a bicycle and head down the road. 

According to 9-1-1 calls obtained by WECT, the suspect was in his late teens on a blue or black bicycle and possible goes by the name 'cook.'

When officers arrived they found 45-year-old Johnny Lee Johnson dead at the scene after he was shot on his front porch. 

The Wilmington Police Department is asking anyone with any information on the shooting to call 910-343-3609 or use Text-A-Tip.
