First at Four: Renters have to move fast to find a home in Wilmington

Finding a new place to live is stressful enough, but if you're looking to rent a house in the Wilmington area, you've got your work cut out for you.

Realtor Jessica Edwards from Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage Real Estate told us the rental market is extremely strong in Wilmington right now.

"If you have a good property and price it right, you should have several prospective tenants to choose from within days of marketing it," she said.

Edwards said low inventory means owners are being more selective in choosing new tenants, in terms of credit scores and other factors like move in dates.

There is a large demand for housing in our Wilmington area under $1,100 per month, Edwards said. So much so that once a property comes available, prospective tenants are applying before they even see the property, just to be considered.
