Millions Set Aside for Police Headquarters

MAY 3, 2005 -- Plans to build a new Wilmington Police headquarters get the go-ahead tonight from city council members.

The council will allow spending nearly $20 million on the construction of the building in the North end near Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway.

Police commanders believe the new building will be a great improvement over their current quarters on Red Cross Street. That building is cramped and the third floor is off-limits due to roof problems.
