APRIL 29, 2005 -- There is another twist in the controversy over the Columbus County Department of Social Services.
The director wants her job back. Wilmington Attorney Gary Shipman is representing DSS Director Marva Scott.
Scott was suspended during an investigation into allegations of financial misconduct.
Sheriff Chris Batten recommended that she be suspended because of questions about the use of hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal funds.
State investigators say they're not looking into the case.
Shipman calls Batten's statements comical and embarrassing.
Scott says the situation is tough for her family and for residents who need her department's help.
