UNCW Expands to House Students

APRIL 28, 2005 -- UNC Wilmington is expanding and that's good news for students wanting to live on campus.

Thursday the university broke ground on a new housing project. It will include six three-story apartment buildings and will house 524 students.

There will also be a clubhouse with meeting areas, an outdoor pool, a patio area and two sand volleyball courts.

Construction will begin in July and should be complete by next summer.

Also Thursday, UCNW was awarded a $100,000 grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation which supports learning programs for adults. The university will use the money to help boost their adult learning classes.
