For the second year in a row, WECT is teaming up with NBC to help Clear the Shelters in southeastern North Carolina.
This year's Clear the Shelters event comes after a successful inaugural effort in 2015, which resulted in nearly 20,000 animals finding new homes in one single day.
Dozens of animal shelters across the country were literally emptied in one day, and many communities were inspired to take action and open their homes to animals in need.
"I’m very excited that our stations are working with hundreds of local animal shelters once again to help save the lives of thousands of deserving animals,” said Valari Staab, President, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations. “Having recently adopted a Puerto Rican rescue dog, I know well how a pet’s love can impact a family. Help us ‘Clear the Shelters’ and let’s make change happen once again to give deserving pets a chance at a new life.”
If you are looking to add a furry friend to your family, please consider doing so on July 23. We'll announce how many animals were adopted nationwide during WECT's Clear the Shelter special July 29 at 4 p.m.
We want to see YOUR rescued pets. Send us a picture or video of your furry friend using #WECTClearTheShelters or posting it to our Facebook wall.
