BLADENBORO, N.C. (AP) - Duke Energy says results from samples collected downstream of a flooded North Carolina coal ash dump show no negative impacts to the Cape Fear River. The data Duke released Monday came from a sample collected over the weekend after a dam breached at the reservoir for the L.V. Sutton Power Station near Wilmington.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - After more than two decades as one of the South Carolina law enforcement community's most visible fixtures, the man known as "Trooper Bob" is hanging up his badge. Lt. Bob Beres tells The Associated Press he's retiring this fall after 24 years in the Patrol. His last day on the job will be November 30.

EDGEFIELD, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a pregnant teen who was forcefully taken from her South Carolina home has been found safe. Edgefield County sheriff's deputies say 18-yearold Kerrie Edgerly was found safe in Lexington County late Sunday. Deputy Robbie Harter says two people are in custody. There is no word yet on charges. The sheriff's office said two men broke into a home Sunday morning, demanded money and took the teen.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina math teacher is accused of lowering a student's grade because he stopped having sex with her. The young man and his mother are suing the Charleston County School District for negligence. The Post and Courier reports that 27-year-old Jennifer Olajire-Aro allegedly "encouraged and coerced" the then-17-year-old into having sex with her multiple times. The lawsuit says she was arrested after lowering his grade from a 98 to 89 when he refused her in December.
