Drowning ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in the United States, according to the CDC.
The CDC statistics show about ten people die from unintentional drowning every day, with two of those who die under the age of 14.
Michael Tyler, the head lifeguard at the YWCA Lower Cape Fear in Wilmington, spoke on WECT News First at Four, sharing with tips to help you protect you and your family while at the pool or beach this summer.
