A Wilmington mother, who has children with severe persistent asthma, is organizing a walk to benefit the American Lung Association in North Carolina.
The "I Love Lungs Wilmington Walk" is happening on Saturday, May 14, at 9:00 a.m. at Huge Macrae Park. The event is free.
To sign up, go to www.crowdrise.com and search for “I Love Lungs Wilmington” or email email@example.com.
Our Lauren Rautenkranz is the emcee of the event and she will deliver a special asthma forecast as she kicks off the walk.
The event is planned by Laura Kellogg, RN, AE-C. Kellogg and her family were invited to the White House last year as President Barack Obama announced his America’s Clean Power Plan.
Robert and Laura Kellogg along with their children Camryn, Chiara and Luca were also featured in a video by the EPA about their fight for cleaner air.
The Kellogg family had to relocate to Wilmington several years ago to escape poor air quality in western Massachusetts and they've been working to bring attention to cleaner air initiatives.
