WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Brian Mims and Daniel Stack both homered as UNCW clinched a series win and a Colonial Athletic Association tournament berth with a 9-5 win over visiting College of Charleston on Saturday at Brooks Field.
The Seahawks (33-10, 13-2 CAA), winners of their last six outings, are the only school to participate in every CAA tournament since 1986. CofC (23-21-1, 7-10 CAA) dropped their third straight game and fourth consecutive conference series.
Mims, who hit his 10th round tripper of the season, collected four hits on the day and raised his average to .387 on the season. Joining Stack with two-hit games were Steven Linkous, Nick Feight, and Zach Canada. Stack finished with three runs batted in, all coming on his eight home run of the season.
Sophomore reliever Austin Magestro (4-2) earned the win with three innings of no-hit, shutout baseball.
Ryan Brown finished with two hits for the Cougars while Danny Wondrack hit home run number three for the season.
Red-shirt sophomore Bailey Ober (5-3) allowed seven runs on eight hits over four innings in taking the loss.
Up next: The Seahawks and Cougars wrap up the series on Sunday with a 2 p.m. start on Senior Day. Cory Gantz (4-0) will get the starting nod for UNCW while CofC counters with Eric Bauer (2-2).

How it happened: Stack's three-run homer in the third inning highlight a four-run frame for UNCW as the Seahawks broke a 2-all deadlock with the outburst.
Inside the box score: Neither starter, Ober nor Alex Royalty (4 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 6 SO) made it past the fourth inning ... UNCW landed its leadoff hitter on base safely in four innings ... The Seahawks held CofC to 1-for-10 hitting with two outs while collecting five two-out hits ... Magestro's three shutout innings halted a streak of three consecutive innings the Cougars had scored ... Both teams combined to strike out 21 times.
Notes: The win was UNCW's 19th straight at home, the longest current streak in the nation this season ... UNCW has won 11-straight conference games ... Robbie Thorburn extended his career-high hitting streak to nine games with as third-inning single ... Mims posted his 23rd multi-hit game of the season while Linkous raised his team-leading total to 25 games ... The Seahawks are now hitting .335 on the season, second only to UNCG (.354) ...
