There have been a lot of changes across the Magic City area since the April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak.
On Wednesday, Mayor William Bell and city leaders were on hand for a groundbreaking in Pratt City and announced four new storm shelters will be coming to Birmingham.
Bell mentioned that the city has already built a new library, new senior citizens apartments, new houses and a new fire station since 2011.
"We're doing so many things, but one thing we always knew we would build in security and safer environments. That's why we're here today continuing to keep the promise to this community," Bell said.
The storm shelters should be open to the public in 6-9 months.
