WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A summer music concert series is moving from Mayfaire Town Center to Monkey Junction in New Hanover County.

Step Up For Soldiers plans to host a series of Friday night concerts in the Home Depot Plaza parking lot starting May 27.

According to Kim Munley, the president of SUFS, they’ve worked to find a place for the shows since it was announced that Mayfaire would no longer host the events because of construction.

Munley says the series will run for 15 weeks through Labor Day weekend, and the concerts will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Founded in 2004, Step Up For Soldiers is an all-volunteer group that provides home renovations, recreational activities and recognition for disabled veterans of the United States military.

“We will be recruiting sponsors, and each week the show will benefit Step Up For Soldiers and a different organization or non-profit group that will help work the event,” Munley said.
