WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW sophomore Nick Feight (pronounced FIGHT) continued his run batted in rampage last week with 13 RBI's and was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player-of-the-Week for second time this season.
For the week, Feight hit .529 (9-17) with three doubles and a home run, finishing with a .882 slugging percentage. Feight tied and broke his career-high for RBI's in back-to-back wins over East Tennessee State, plating five runs in the series opener, a 15-5 win, and then knocking in six in a 17-7 rout in the middle game with ETSU.
On the season, Feight, who had just one home run and three RBI's as a freshman, leads the nation with 59 RBI's and ranks among the Colonial leaders in batting average (.382), hits (47), home runs (11), doubles (13), total bases (97) and slugging percentage (.789).
The Seahawks went 4-0 on the week following a three-game sweep of East Tennessee State. UNCW hit nine home runs on the weekend and plated 48 runs in the three games. The Seahawks improved to 16-1 when scoring 10 or more runs this season.
Feight joins teammate Steven Linkous as a two-time winner of CAA Player-of-the-Week honors.
UNCW continues its home stand on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. start against Campbell.
