Pine Valley Elementary to hold 2nd 24-Hour Skype-a-thon

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Pine Valley Elementary School students will participate in lessons and activities with other students from around the world in a continuous 24-hour session.

According to a New Hanover County Schools news release, the Second Annual 24-Hour Skype-a-thon will begin at 6 a.m. on Apr. 14 and last until 6 a.m. Apr. 15. It is organized by Skype Master Teacher Beverly Ladd.

Some classes will participate in sessions throughout the day while others continue through the night. The full schedule includes 33 Skypes with 37 classes in 26 countries.

Students will learn and find solutions to global issues. Pine Valley teachers, some of UNCW’s Watson College of Education students and even Sammy the Seahawk will be on hand to lead the activities.
