Hugh MacRae Park to host Earth Day Festival on Apr. 23

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

A day full of environmental education and music is planned for the 2016 Wilmington Earth Day Festival at Hugh MacRae Park on Saturday, April 23.

The event is free and runs from noon until 6 p.m.

The theme for this year's festival is Healthy Earth, Healthy People.

More than 50 environmental exhibits will be on display. The Kids' Eco Zone will provide hands-on activities for children and Mr. Mark's Music will lead the Nature Brigade Parade around the festival at 1:45 p.m. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite flora or fauna creature and join the parade.

Off-site parking will be available at Longleaf Mall near Medac and Firestone Complete Auto Care where a free WAVE trolley will take people to the park. The trolley will run every 20 minutes beginning at 11:30 a.m.
