Dustin Hunt and Tyler Robinson combined to shutout UNCW on seven hits as Northeastern clinched a Colonial Athletic Association series with a 3-0 win on Saturday at Friedman Diamond.
The Huskies improved to 3-2 in the league and 13-12 overall. The Seahawks, who have dropped their last three outings, fell to 15-9 overall and 2-2 in the league.
Hunt (3-2) scattered six hits and walked one while striking out seven for the win. Robinson faced the minimum over his two innings for his first save of the season.
Charlie McConnell collected two hits, including a solo homer, and scored twice to lead the Huskies. Pat Madigan added two hits and two runs batted in.
UNCW starter Alex Royalty (5-2) took the loss despite a solid start. The freshman allowed two runs on six hits, walked none and struck out a career-high seven.
Casey Golden had three hits and Brian Mims had two doubles as UNCW was shutout for the first time this season.
