Students decorated “gender-bread” cookies Wednesday to raise awareness about House Bill 2.
UNCW Pride members and supporters decorated gingerbread cookies as whichever gender they chose while leaders gave a presentation about the bill.
One student said events like these are a good way to bring students together.
“I think things like this, kind of fun easy things to do, are really educational and are very helpful to teach those that may not know much about transgender individuals more about these people and their struggles,” Justin Ammons, student, said. “Because I think they’re the group of people under the LGBT acronym that face the most danger in their lives.”
UNCW Pride will hold a peaceful walk on campus Friday at 12 p.m. to protest HB2.
