Kure Beach looking to expand town hall, add new fire station

KURE BEACH, NC (WECT) - Kure Beach town leaders are looking to expand town hall and build a brand new fire station.

Town council is seeking to add around 2,700 square feet to the south side of town hall to connect with the existing police department building. The expansion will add office, conference/meeting room and storage space.

Leaders also want to add a brand new fire station facility on a vacant lot adjacent to town hall. The new 4,500-square-foot facility will include a one-to-three story building with bays, offices, restrooms, a kitchen, a conference/training room, reception area, sleeping quarters, storage areas, and parking for staff and visitors.

To make all this happen, town leaders are requesting architectural firms to submit concept designs for the additions. Town council will us the designs to set a construction budget for the projects.

"We are looking for architects that will deliver value, so looking for a combination of experience, and a combination of cost," said Kure Beach Mayor Pro Tem, Craig Bloszinsky.

The town will hear back from architects on April 20, and follow up with a budget meeting on April 22.
