WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

The UNCW Department of Theatre is preparing its next show in the 2015-2016 season. It’s called The 4th Graders Present an Unnamed Love-Suicide by Sean Graney.

Fourth-grader Johnny shoots himself and leaves behind a play as a suicide note. His classmates perform the play as a memorial.

They assume the roles of themselves and portray the incidents in Johnny’s life that lead to his death.

The production is set to run during Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. The students involved say the show sheds light on childhood bullies and adolescent depression.

The show is part of the Student Lab Series designed to produce works from unfamiliar playwrights.
