ELIZABETHTOWN, NC (WECT) -

William Brisson has won the Democratic primary for his District 22 seat in the North Carolina House of Representatives, which represents all of Bladen County and parts of both Sampson and Johnston counties.

Brisson narrowly defeated political newcomer Ben Snyder in the primary, getting 4,629 votes to Snyder’s 4,027.

Brisson, who is a farmer from Dublin, is serving his fifth term in the state House. Brisson will be the likely office-holder in 2017, since there are no Republican candidates registered for the 2016 General Election in November.

Brisson serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services, and as a Vice-Chairman on several other committees including Agriculture, Appropriations and Health.
