WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -

Hundreds of fans gathered in Trask Coliseum Sunday to hear what’s next for the UNCW Men’s Basketball team.

The Seahawks will face off against Duke University in their first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Students said the winning season has brought a new sense of school spirit to campus.

“When I first got to the basketball games the attendance was a little low and we were just kind of rolling,” Ethan Parlato, senior, said. “But then we got a 15-game streak and it started coming up. But now it’s insane. We pack it out every single game. There’s definitely an increase in spirit.”

Cody Critcher, freshman, said he believes the Seahawks have a shot at the championship.

“If we play our game, everybody better watch out for Wilmington because I think we can make a big run in this tournament,” Critcher said. “I think we could be the Cinderella team. I think we could pull a big upset. This is a year when anybody can win it.”

UNCW will play against Duke in Providence, Rhode Island Thursday.
