WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Big changes are coming to the Register of Deeds office in downtown Wilmington.
Starting Monday, it will move from North 2nd Street to North Chestnut Street.
Additionally, curbside service will be added for senior citizens, or anyone suffering from a handicap.
Curbside service will be put in place for those who need their vital records by parking in the reserved parking spot designated for this service. There will be a number listed about the spot that can be called, so that an employee can deliver the records straight to your car.
"My father suffered from a handicap, and had a tough time walking," said Tammy Beasley, the New Hanover County registrar, "I also broke my leg shortly after taking office, and had to use a walker, so this new service is something that is close to my heart. That's why I'm implementing it."
Beasley says she and county officials began discussing the service in 2013.
Starting Monday, it will be a reality.
