Video: See the moment a tornado hit the St. John sheriff's office

LAPLACE, LA (WVUE) -

When Tuesday's tornadoes struck in St. John, the security cameras were rolling at the sheriff's office.

Below you can see the moment one of the twisters knocked out power to the building.

At about the 47-second mark you'll see a flash, then a glow, then nothing.

Very eerie stuff indeed.

The National Weather Service said Louisiana saw at least five super cells on Tuesday. The cells created 13 tornadoes, including an EF-3. Two people were killed in St. James Parish.

    Meteorologists say 12 tornadoes touched down in Louisiana on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. The National Weather Service says this was the worst outbreak for our area since June 7-8, 1989. In that two-day period, 19 tornadoes hit Louisiana. In 1992, Hurricane Andrew brought 14 tornadoes to Louisiana.
