Easter tourists flock to area beaches

MARCH 24, 2005 -- Easter weekend is bringing with it an influx of tourists to Southeastern North Carolina. This spring is proving to be no different at Wrightsville Beach.

Families arrived early Thursday to check in at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort. They headed straight for the water after checking in. But for those looking for some rest and relaxation, reservations are a must. The Sunday brunch at the SunSpree is already booked solid.

The traffic only got worse throughout the day. Bellhops at the Blockade Runner jumped in and out of cars pulling up late into the night. Many tourists tried to get there as early as possible.

Everyone seemed eager to start their holiday weekend. Several college students came to brighten up their tans.

To eat at the Oceanic Restaurant you had to be on a waiting list for the past two nights. Management there says the weekend looks promising.
