LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An abused puppy found inside the cab of a semi that crashed into several vehicles along Interstate 65 on Friday is recovering with Louisville Metro Animal Services.

The 8-week-old German shepherd mix, which Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) employees named Gigi, was rescued from the truck Danny Leonardo Gonzalez was driving.

An LMAS spokeswoman aid Gigi's tail had been glued to her body. She is in critical condition, and LMAS staff will be monitoring her closely over the next several days. It is not known whether Gigi will survive.

Gonzalez, 50, ran or tried to run almost a dozen vehicles, including two school buses off I-65 in Bullitt County and nearby rural roads on Friday. He crashed into two of them. Police said Gonzalez told them he "snapped," was tired of the way people treated truckers, and didn't want to work that day.

Gonzalez was hauling 40 tons of landscaping timber from his home in Harlingen, TX to Ohio when the incident happened.

Currently, he is charged with criminal mischief, wanton endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident. Metro Animal Control said he also will be charged with animal abuse,
