The Cape Fear Community College men’s basketball team began a three-game road trip on Saturday with a 50-49 triumph over Spartanburg Methodist.
Michael Chambers led the Sea Devils with 12 points and Alonzo Tyson chipped in with 10.
“We showed great toughness to battle this one out on the road today,” said CFCC Coach Ryan Mantlo. “They guys found a way to win and showed great composure.”
The Sea Devils won their 12th straight and improved to 21-5 overall. With a two-game lead in Region 10 standings, Cape Fear remains unbeaten at 6-0 in league play ahead of a date with USC-Salkehatchie on Wednesday, Feb. 10.
No. 11 Cape Fear CC 72 Patrick Henry CC 49
Monica Alexander dropped 24 points to lead No. 11 Cape Fear Community College in a 72-49 route at home over Patrick Henry Community College on Saturday.
The Sea Devils extended its win streak to 18 consecutive games and hold top spot in conference. Cape Fear moved to 10-0 in the division.
“We did what we needed too early to put the game away,” said CFCC Coach Chris Harris. “Everyone had a chance to play, which is always nice. We look forward to begin working on a few things this week for the stretch run.”
The Sea Devils embark on a five-game road swing to close the regular season beginning at Lenoir Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 10.
