WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - During Monday's agenda brief, City staff presented Council with suggested next steps in consideration of the establishment of the Municipal Service District.
According to Glenn Harbeck, a public interest meeting will be held in early March. That meeting will have small group discussions followed by an open-mic period. It will give the public opportunity to comment on the report prepared by WDI.
Council previously approved the report provided by Wilmington Downtown Inc. and thanked them for collecting information and providing recommendations associated with the establishment of a MSD downtown.
The City Council asked for the city manager take immediate steps to develop and present a report compliant with the applicable North Carolina General Statues regarding the establishment of a MSD.
Once the report is completed, the city manager will schedule a public hearing at the earliest City Council meeting, making sure to provide 30 days for public inspection of the proposed report.
