Craft beer in Wilmington just got a lot more social. Next Glass, the app that helps you find the best beer for you, just merged with another company, tapping a whole lot of potential.
"Having grown up in Wilmington and seeing what we're becoming, it's just exciting," said 27-year-old Kurt Taylor, CEO of Next Glass.
Next Glass uses algorithms and chemistry to tell you which beer to try, specific to your taste preference. A few weeks ago, Next Glass merged with Untappd, another beer app.
"Their goal is to connect out and be social when you drink," Taylor said.
He said Untappd has the largest craft beer social network in the world. For now, the apps will stay separate. However, Taylor said the merger has uncovered tons of potential.
"So this is our storage and data collection area," he said, showing up the company's new headquarters on Front Street.
Taylor said the company has also grown in staff. He now has 25 employees on his sales staff. Using the Untappd network, they're now selling software to bottle shops, breweries and restaurants all over the county.
"I think we're just scratching the surface of what we can accomplish," Taylor says.
He thinks with Untappd the company can go global. He's hoping to double his staff by the end of 2016.
