CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) - Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts has signed a resolution declaring January as Panthers Pride month, in honor of the city's professional football team.
In a news release Wednesday, Roberts urged members of the community to wear Carolina Panthers gear or the colors of blue, black or white every Friday this month in order to show support for the team.
In the mayor's resolution, Roberts says the Panthers have shown strong character this season and have brought positive national attention to the city.
The 15-1 Panthers are set to host the Seattle Seahawks in an NFC divisional playoff game on Sunday afternoon.
