DENVER, N.C. (AP) - Chazz Surratt, the Associated Press prep football offensive player of the year for the state, has changed his mind on enrolling early at North Carolina.
The Gaston Gazette reported (http://bit.ly/1Rvrit0) East Lincoln's quarterback has rehabbed a left elbow injury from the state playoffs to the point that he hopes to play basketball by February. Surratt says he has started shooting and drills after the injury, which didn't require surgery.
Surratt had planned to enroll for UNC's spring semester, which begins Monday. His mother, Brandi, told the AP on Thursday he plans to sign with UNC next month.
The two-time AP all-state pick was Gatorade state player of the year, setting state career records for total offense and touchdown responsibility. He also made the AP all-state prep basketball team last season.
