The New Hanover County Parks and Gardens Department will sponsor TreeFest 2016.
According to a news release, it will take place at Independence Mall in the JC Penney end court Jan. 22 and 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
TreeFest distributes tree seedlings and native grasses to be planted in winter time. The first TreeFest took place after hurricanes Bertha and Fran destroyed many trees in Southeastern North Carolina.
Some things to consider before attending TreeFest are the size your planting site, whether utility lines exist below ground, soil type, drainage conditions and sun exposure.
