A bevy of new stores could be in the works for Mayfaire Town Centre.
LandDesign, Inc. submitted plans to the city of Wilmington Monday that would add seven additional buildings to either side of Town Center Drive near the movie theater.
The tentative plans include a two-story, 24,000-square-foot building which is labeled for retailer H&M, a 10,500-square-foot building labeled West Marine, a 9,100-square-foot building labeled West Elm, and an 11,195-square-foot building that would house Lane Bryant, Torrid, and Hot Topic.
Some shoppers said they are excited about the idea.
"I think that's really good," Jonathan Martinez, shopper, said. "That's a great opportunity for people to get a job. Me, I'm trying to get myself a second job. But I think it's a really great opportunity."
The city's Technical Review Committee is scheduled to review the plans on Dec. 31.
The proposed expansion is part of Mayfaire Town Centre's Phase III project which aims to beef up available retail space.
Tennessee-based firm CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. purchased Mayfaire Town Centre for $192 million earlier this year.
