UNCW Press Release
WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Junior outside hitter Nicole Lott has been named All-East Coast Region honorable mention by the America Volleyball Coaches Association after helping guide UNCW to its first NCAA tournament appearance.
“It’s a great honor for any player to be recognized in a very strong region, and Nicole she has proven to be a solid six-rotation force who played consistently all season long with the support of her teammates,” said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek.
Lott becomes the second Seahawk to earn honorable mention honors after Meredith Peacock did so in 2014. Lott was a first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection and later earned All-Tournament honors as UNCW captured its first conference tournament title.
In her junior season, Lott led the Seahawks offensively, averaging 3.50 kills and 4.1 points per set. Her career-high of 385 kills were eighth most in a season at UNCW and her 1,131 attacks were good for sixth all-time on the Seahawks charts. Lott had three matches of 20-plus kills, including a school-record tying 23 against Sacramento State. She added 20 against College of Charleston and followed that with 22 against Northeastern in back-to-back matches to open conference play.
Defensively, Lott ranked second on the Seahawks with a career-high 285 digs and was fourth on the club with 88 blocks, also a career-high. She totaled 13 matches with at least 10 digs and posted 10 double-doubles on the season.
